Vacancy No VN2113 Location City Multiple Location Country United Kingdom Job Description Job Title: Social Channels Lead Reports to: Head of Social Department: 4Studio Location: This role can based at one of the following Channel 4 office - London, Leeds or Manchester DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The recently-created 4Studio is the engine room for C4’s digital acceleration strategy, with the mission to create, adapt and distribute brilliant content across the key social media channels. We work very closely with key people and departments within C4 to make this a success. JOB PURPOSE Channel 4 is a world class entertainment brand. The Social team within 4Studio is responsible for further building our world class social media presence. We are looking for an industry-leading Social Channels Lead to direct and manage our dynamic Channel Teams, who are responsible for creating and publishing content, and engaging and building audiences on an array of audience-focused social channels, across YouTube, Snap, X, Threads, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram. These will include (but not be limited to) brands such as Channel 4, E4, Channel 4 Sports, Channel 4.0 and more. You’ll work closely with our Social Innovation & Strategy Lead, and our Analytics Lead, to agree growth strategies for all of our channels, and will be responsible for ensuring those strategies are actioned. You’ll empower each of the Channel Teams to hit key departmental KPIs, and embolden them to experiment and innovate in their content creation and audience growth strategies to do so. These teams cover the end-to-end process of all things Social – from planned and reactive content creation, to audience engagement, and full 360 campaign integration into key Marketing and Commissioning show priorities. You will guide and support your direct reports in determining and executing account strategies that ladder up into overall platform/departmental goals, and ensure they’re agile enough to pivot strategic focus and content plans when needs change. You’ll be one of the department’s core ‘point people’ in how we engage and interact with Marketing, Commissioning, Press, Legal, Compliance, and Sales teams, as well as key external production partners who also manage their own Social channels - and will be an expert at managing stakeholders, communicating up and across, and energising down to ensure that the Channel Teams are doing their most creative and engaging work for the audiences they’re nurturing. You will encourage your teams to use data and editorial insight to shape content and account strategies that best deliver against KPIs, and will be familiar with digital tools and techniques to facilitate performance monitoring and interpretation. You will also be responsible for ensuring the output across all accounts is right for that specific audience, fully compliant and of a consistently high standard, and will build a strong relationship with the Head of Content to ensure we’re continually pushing creative standards for all our content. As part of this, you’ll know when and where to prioritise limited resource to create digital extensions/extras of our TV shows (spin-off series, podcasts etc) and will support your Direct Reports with briefing the Production Unit, to ensure all output does what we need it to do. You’ll have a proven track record acting as a trusted voice in how Social teams interact with the wider business. Excellent communication and persuasion skills are essential. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES You will… Lead a large Channels Team, consisting of different multi-functional sub-teams working across the C4 portfolio (C4, E4, Sports etc) across multiple platforms. Support each Senior Channel Manager with their specific account focus, providing support and guidance on the individual account strategies and how individual show/campaign strategies will ladder into them , whilst pursuing opportunities for improvement, innovation, and inclusivity. Work closely with the Social Innovation & Strategy Lead to understand how the specific Platform Strategies are designed to serve the departmental KPIs. Help interpret how these Platform Strategies can be applied to specific Accounts, and support each Channel Team with their specific area of focus to help them shape content, account and show strategies that deliver against the KPIs they’ve been set. Own the development of the Channel Teams and their evolution and growth, promoting knowledge sharing, collaboration and communication. Ensure team’s adherence with systems that support effective delivery. Identify and oversee opportunities for leveraging activity across different accounts and platforms … what do we cross promote/push to, and where and how can we build cross platform campaigns (eg around a Hollyoaks’ storyline, World Aids Day or other cultural moments etc) Work closely with the Marketing Team to understand wider business priorities and how 4Studio strategies can lean into and/or complement marketing campaigns. Work closely with Sales team to ensure we leverage branded campaigns around organic content and vice versa. Support the Channel Teams with regard to Stakeholder management (including Commissioners and Production Company Contacts) to ensure communication is clear and strategic objectives are understood. Lead on quality of output, ensuring strategy decks, PCAs and other presentations and reports are of a consistently high standard and ‘on brand’. Support each Channel Team with their specific areas of focus to help them deliver against the KPIs they’ve been set. Provide guidance on the individual account strategies and how individual show/campaign strategies ultimately ladder into the Platform Strategies Work closely with the Social Innovation & Strategy Lead to understand how the specific Platform Strategies are designed to serve the departmental KPIs. Help interpret how the Platform Strategies can be applied to specific Accounts to support the Channel Teams. Work closely with each Channel Team to incorporate learnings around publishing, optimisation, community engagement and performance into Account strategies. Oversee the allocation of Channel Management Resource, determining when to brief in the Production Hub for additional Channel Content, when to deploy producers to attend shoots and where to maximise community engagement or marketing resource according to ROI and KPI potential. Work closely with the Marketing Team to understand wider business priorities and how 4Studio Account Strategies can lean into and/or complement Marketing Campaigns. Work closely with Sales team to ensure we leverage branded campaigns around organic content and vice versa. Work closely with the Head of Social and 3rd Parties to construct plans and analyse budgets for projects (including when and where to deploy embedded producers or contract 3rd parties to achieve social objectives) evaluating ROI and KPI potential. This may also include working with talent, influencers and/or production companies on specific show accounts or new initiatives. Work closely with the Channel team and with the Social Innovation & Strategy Lead to create, implement and iterate Community Engagement Strategies across all accounts. You will work closely with the Social Innovation & Strategy Lead to incorporate learnings around publishing, optimisation, community engagement and performance into platform strategies. Work with the Social Innovation & Strategy Lead to determine when and where to apply Channel Management Resource, and when to brief in the Production Hub for additional Channel Content EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Demonstrate significant experience of managing creative and channel management teams. Demonstrate experience of developing and/or actioning growth strategies across a multi-channel network, across multiple social platforms – ideally with proven experience doing so on YouTube and TikTok. Demonstrate experience of leading teams to KPI success, within a fast-moving, fast-changing environment. Demonstrate excellent experience of using insights (both data-driven and editorial) to manipulate performance and revenue success with video content across social platforms Demonstrate excellent experience in utilising social measurement, reporting and competitor analysis tools to identify and super-serve audiences.
