About the Role
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children, young people, and families? Do you want to be part of a transformative journey shaping the future of Havering’s community? Join us in our mission to elevate the local authority's Children's Social Care Services within the Starting Well Department.

Following a recent inadequate Ofsted inspection, we are committed to an improvement journey to re-establish and reinvigorate great practice across all services delivered in Havering. We seek dedicated and enthusiastic social care practitioners driven by a genuine desire to advocate for children, promote their well-being, and embrace the challenge of working in a local authority undergoing significant improvement.

In return, we offer opportunities to develop your skills through 10 days of dedicated learning annually, access to our Social Care Academy, and a Systemic offer. We are committed to creating an environment where every child receives the best possible support and care, and all staff are supported to thrive in safe, nurturing environments.

The London Borough of Havering is looking to recruit a Social Worker to contribute to delivering an effective children’s social care service as part of a social work team. You will improve outcomes for children and young people by managing caseloads based on experience, grade, and case complexity, utilising specialist knowledge for interventions, needs and risk assessments, care planning, and child protection investigations.

Key responsibilities include holding and managing varied caseloads in line with procedures and legislation, identifying and assessing risk and need, delivering protective or supportive services for children at risk or in need, maintaining up-to-date assessments and care plans, and ensuring high-quality reports are submitted within required timescales.

As one of the greenest boroughs in London, we value resourcefulness and initiative. We offer many opportunities for progression and support you to make a positive difference to the people who live, work, and learn here. Whether you are outdoorsy, people-focused, or analytical, there is a role for you at Havering.
