Salary: £35,421 to £39,005 pa inclusive of London Weighting Allowance
The University of Roehampton is recruiting to the role of Student Casework Officer to join our welcoming and busy team. This is an exciting time to join the team as we develop our service to support the future needs of the University.
This role is ideal for an organised and analytical person who has great written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will ensure proper and efficient administration of University’s processes for student complaints, academic appeals, and student disciplinary consideration, along with other student casework matters as necessary.
Key responsibilities will include:
- to provide high-quality customer service to students who are engaging with the Student Casework Team;
- to support the delivery of the University’s processes for considering student complaints, appeals, and other casework, including:
• liaising with students and staff
• referring cases for informal response or formal investigation
• drafting high-quality written communications in response to complaints received
• making recommendations on the outcomes of appeals
• making recommendations on the settlement of complaints
• maintaining records of student cases and providing reports as needed;
• to support the broader work of the Governance and Legal Office and undertake other duties as required by the Student Casework Manager or University Secretary.
The successful candidate will be a well-organised self-starter with a service-oriented approach and a high level of attention to detail. They will have experience of applying and interpreting policy and procedure in an administrative context.
They will have the ability to:
- critically evaluate written materials;
- work effectively and efficiently under pressure, to respond appropriately to challenging situations;
- make rational and fair decisions within a prescribed framework;
- manage their caseload in accordance with relevant deadlines;
- convey detailed important information clearly and concisely, sustaining a line of reasoning; and
- discuss sensitive and confidential situations with staff and students.
