About Us Hackney Council is looking for Support Workers to help bring adult social care into the heart of our community. As a Support Worker at Oswald Street Day Service, you will have an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative service. The Oswald Street day service building opened in 2018 and was purpose built to meet the needs of our service users who have a range of complex needs such as dementia, autism and learning disabilities and age / health related frailties. The building was designed and furnished with input from the service users, carers, staff, health and social care colleagues and partnership working remains very important. Our day service offers a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting vulnerable adults. The Post Holder will work as part of a team to offer practical and emotional support to enable service with complex needs to participate in recreational, educational, programmes on and off site. The post holder will engage with service users, carers and professionals respecting the service users dignity, privacy and right to choose. The Centre team will mostly work Monday to Friday, although may have some planned out of hours work from time to time with occasional planned weekend or evening work. Day-to-day you will be working with adults with a variety of complex needs. You will enable them to engage in a range of activities in line with their support plan while respecting their right to choice, their dignity and privacy. his is a fantastic opportunity to develop a range of skills, which include providing activities in the centre and wider community. Part of the role is to escort service users to and from the centre and local and out of borough activities on the council provided transport and public transport. We are looking for people who are passionate about this work and excited by the opportunity to bring their creative ideas to the service and ensure that our service users are engaged with our work. We need people with experience working with adults with complex needs in a social care environment. This involves supporting service users to attend activities provided and empowering them in doing. This post is a career graded post for scale 5, you will have a Diploma/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Health & Social Care. You will have all the experiences above. In addition, you will have experience of promoting activities and services by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating activities with service users.
