Cancer Research UK are looking for a Sustainability Supply Chain Manager to help support our ‘ Sustain ’ strategy The Sustainability Supply Chain Manager role sits within our procurement team and will fully assess our supplier’s ability to meet CRUK’s sustainability requirements and identify potential risks that could impact our reputation, financial performance, or legal compliance. With a good understanding of ethical standards, and legislation, you will evaluate our supplier’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, including their energy use, waste management, labor practices, human rights policies, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This is a great opportunity to work across multiple sectors (Manufacturing, Construction, Waste, Textiles, Warehousing and Distribution, and Events) and have a real impact in terms of how we work with our suppliers. Sustainability and social inequality are critical challenges of our time. We must play our part in tackling them, particularly where they intersect with our mission of beating cancer. What will I be doing? Accountable for setting, maintaining and monitoring compliance to ESG-supply chain policy and procedures. Drive the continuous improvement of CRUK supply chain due diligence process. Work collaboratively across Procurement and Contract Management teams to identify carbon hot spots across CRUK supply chain, ensuring plans in place to ensure reduction of carbon is in line with organisational net zero targets. Support Sourcing and Supplier Management teams to develop effective plans to improve sustainable, ethical and diverse supply chain. Enable appropriate governance is in place to measure and report upon initiatives including, but not limited to; supplier code of conduct, usage of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), modern slavery & human rights on high-risk areas, carbon emission reduction, biodiversity impacts and supply chain diversity. Actively engaging & upskilling the Procurement team, Supplier relationship managers and the wider business to deliver the aims of the programme. Develop and execute a communications programme, targeting a wide audience, internally and externally, to support the successful deployment of the programme aims. What are you looking for? Experience of Ethical/MSA audit reports – such as SMETA, BSCI or other Sustainability programs with an ability to understand and provide insights with recommendations to stakeholders Highly knowledgeable in the principles and practices of Supplier Management schemes and their operation. This includes CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), Technical Audits. Experience in understanding Audit reports based on Supplier Management Sustainability Principles. Experience in technical delivery of Supplier Management scheme audits Uses fact-based decision making. Ability to liaise cross functionally, ensuring the technical compliance requirements and standards are clear and included as and when required.
