About the Role
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children, young people, and families? Do you want to be part of a transformative journey shaping the future of Havering’s community? Join us in our mission to elevate Children’s Social Care Services within the Starting Well Department.
Following a recent inadequate Ofsted inspection, we are committed to an improvement journey to re-establish and reinvigorate excellent practice across all services delivered in Havering. We seek dedicated and enthusiastic social care practitioners ready to make a meaningful difference, advocating for children and promoting their well-being.
As a Team Manager, you will empower, support, challenge, and motivate social workers to collectively achieve the best outcomes for children, young people, and their families. Your responsibilities will include managing and overseeing staff to ensure effective service delivery through high-quality social work aligned with legislation and good practice standards. You will lead and monitor staff to ensure robust recording of information on relevant systems, capturing and evidencing the voice of the child.
You will assist the Service Manager and Head of Service in planning and developing services for vulnerable children and families, identifying needs and challenges, escalating issues as appropriate. Effective budget management and producing reports, as well as attending meetings and forums, will also be key parts of your role.
We promote a hybrid working model for social care staff, combining time at our town hall campus/hubs with flexible working arrangements. Team building opportunities are encouraged and often take place face-to-face to foster strong working relationships.
Havering is one of the greenest boroughs in London, embracing resourcefulness and innovation. We offer many opportunities for career progression and support you to make a real difference to the people who live, work, and learn here.
