A mentor play’s an essential role in helping us to Enable, Enhance and Empower girls and young women affected by care to reach their greatest potential. Working with a varied case load of young women to provide 1:1’s and small group sessions, along with facilitating workshops. You will work alongside young women to increase emotional and mental wellbeing, reduce the risk of harm, and enable pathways to fulfilment through education and employment. Person Specification: We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and positive individual to join our team. (It would be desirable if you had lived experience/or understanding of the care system). A commitment to personal and professional development. Essential Requirements: You will have experience managing a varied case load of young people including those who are seen to be high risk. You will have experience working with young people with emotional or mental health challenges. You will have experience of working with girls and young women affected by the care system. To hold a complex caseload of care effected young women including those with multiple and complex needs as recognised under the VAWG Pan London framework. You will be responsible for maintaining reports and accurate records for your caseload. You will have experience delivering 1:1 sessions and small group work to girls and young women. Ability to engage and motivate young women towards achieving their potential. To deliver and support the delivery of programmes following the Sister System mentoring model. To deliver in both the Sister System office, schools/colleges and local community. Undertake and deliver group sessions, co-facilitate on workshops, networking sessions and all other Sister System programme related deliverables. To perform all legal and best practice safeguarding duties. A robust understanding of the Charitable, Education and Social Care Sector. Knowledge of essential acts such as Safeguarding and The Leaving Care Act. Robust understanding of Safeguarding practices when working with young people. Experienced and confident in Microsoft 365, OneDrive and CRM. Desirable: You will have experience working with social care and educational service providers (statutory and third sector). Preferred experience working with girls who have experienced child exploitation, mental health challenges, and worklessness. Experience working as part of a multi-agency team. Experience in advocating on behalf of young people with stakeholders across the sector. Relevant qualifications in education, mentoring, therapeutic disciplines, safeguarding, and mental health. Knowledge of Essential Acts best practices and the partnership model of working. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as directed by your Line Manager. Other generic duties: Other such agreed activities, e.g., attending meetings and acting as an ambassador for the Sister System, promoting the mission, visions, and aims of the organisation. To be available for away days, day trips and respite trips planned for mentees as part of their programme. To support with the coordination of Sister System events during the contracted year. (Christmas and graduation). To ensure all relevant paperwork and persons are notified and completed in accordance with Sister Systems processes. To ensure all policies and procedures in relation to record keeping, administration of information sharing and keeping, and safeguarding are adhered to. To attend to internal and external supervision as agreed and arranged. To aid the smooth running of the organisation To act as an ambassador for Sister System, promoting the work of the charity and supporting its aims and mission.
