Water Quality Technician
Location
This role is based around Crossness (SE2 9AQ) and candidates should be located within approximately 10 miles of here.
Hours
Full Time - 40 hours per week, including participation in an out-of-hours roster which includes weekends working on a five-week rotation.

£27,722 per annum
About the Role
Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company, making a daily difference to our 15 million customers by supplying 2.6 billion litres of water through 32,000 km of pipes. As a Water Quality Technician, you will carry out over 500,000 tests annually on water samples collected from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer properties to ensure the highest quality drinking water. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collecting samples from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer addresses, requiring strong customer service skills and a high level of assurance.
- Managing maintenance of sampling records and equipment to UKAS and DWI standards.
- Planning your workload and delivering monitoring programs, liaising with various teams for technical data and reactive work.
- Investigating possible supply issues and effectively planning routes and collection programs.
- Arranging appointments with customers and addressing customer complaints.
- Driving is a significant part of this role, so you should be comfortable driving for a large portion of your day.
Experience
Excellent customer service skills are essential, as you will be visiting customer homes on behalf of Thames Water. Confidence in cold calling residential and commercial properties is required.
About you
You should be organized, able to work independently, and have excellent attention to detail for keeping daily records of samples taken. Existing knowledge or a willingness to learn about the water industry and relevant processes is important. Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and computer literacy are necessary. You must be comfortable driving a large commercial van in busy environments and possess a clean driving license.
