Salary: £32,337 (£16,169 working 2.5 days per week) We also offer: 25 days annual leave pro rata (plus bank holidays) and a discretionary Christmas closure Benefits platform with discounts on retail, dining and days out Salary sacrifice schemes for gym, bicycles and nursery/childcare Access to a free Employee Assistance Scheme to support you inside and outside of work Enhanced maternity and paternity pay 📍 Location: Multiple project sites within London Borough of Southwark ⏱️ Tenure: Fixed-term contract until 31st March 2028 Role & Responsibilities We’re excited to partner with the London Borough of Southwark to support communities to enjoy their local woodlands and to take action to help manage and enhance them for nature. We’re looking for a Woodland Nature Recovery Officer to help shape this exciting new programme and deliver engagement activities, woodland management and training across several sites in the borough, including parks, cemeteries and other green spaces where woodland is present. Plan and deliver a varied programme of activities including practical conservation workdays, guided walks, training sessions, and biodiversity monitoring to protect and enhance ancient woodland habitats Work closely with existing community groups to identify opportunities for biodiversity improvements and provide the training and support they need to take effective action Lead volunteer and corporate workdays to carry out conservation tasks that align with woodland management goals and the Southwark Biodiversity Action Plan Support school sessions and public engagement activities that welcome a broader range of visitors to the woods and promote inclusive access to nature Build and maintain partnerships with local organisations, residents, and Southwark Council to deliver collaborative events and engagement initiatives Produce engaging promotional content for social media and newsletters, and liaise with internal teams and partners to raise awareness of activities Monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of sessions and activities, maintaining accurate records and contributing to updates for funders and stakeholders (Please see job description for full list of responsibilities) Our ideal Woodland Nature Recovery Officer Full and valid UK driving licence Strong knowledge of woodland management practices and techniques Demonstrable experience delivering practical conservation with volunteers and other public engagement activities (eg guided walks, talks, events) Confident working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including local authorities and community groups Organised, self-motivated, and proficient in Microsoft Office and database systems (Please see job description for full person specification) Closing Date: 9am Monday 16th June Interviews: Are scheduled to take place week commending 30th June, and reasonable adjustments will be offered to all candidates including the choice to meet online or in-person.
