RIGHTS AND EQUALITIES IN NEWHAM – (REIN) Job Description Job Title: Youth Work Manager – engagement & participation Location: Newham Responsible to: Operations Manager Responsible for: REIN Youth & Community Project staff & Volunteers Hours: 36 hrs per week Salary: £29,606 -£32,341 pa (depending upon qualifications and experience) Job Summary: The post holder will be responsible for the development and delivery of youth and community projects in line with REIN’s Policies and Procedures and develop high quality activities for young people aged 9-19 (25 for young people with SEND) within the local community, through the creation and delivery of accessible activities, utilising community development practices and partnership working. Purpose of the Job: To actively lead on the development, delivery, operation, management and evaluation of REIN’s Youth & Community projects. To ensure activities are engaging, challenging, fun and awareness raising, delivered on-time, within scope and within budget. To work in partnership with parents / carers, professionals from other organisations that engage with young people such as social care, health, police, education, youth offending teams and local authorities, to devise and deliver activities which support and safeguard young people. 1. Lead, deliver youth projects, and provide management for REIN youth workers and volunteers 2. Attend and report on project progress to partnership meetings, represent REIN at borough wide and local youth and community related meetings. 3. Organise, participate in and facilitate community projects, residential activities, outdoor education and sporting activities. 4. Monitor and evaluate project performance and risks using appropriate tools and techniques. 5. Manage budgets to devise and deliver activities to maximise engagement and participation of young people and their families. 6. Complete quarterly reports to funders and assist in fundraising. 7. Co-produce youth work curriculum plans with young people to develop a youth led service, generating examples of best practice throughout our services. Main Areas of Responsibility: 8. Initiate, plan, deliver and evaluate youth work and informal education opportunities to develop young people’s social emotional learning, personal and social skills, which result in recordable outcomes in line with the Service priorities and contract targets. 9. Line and performance manage unqualified and trainee youth support workers and volunteers, to plan, deliver and evaluate youth work, with groups and individuals. 10. Work in partnership with parents / carers, VCF organisations and other relevant agencies to enhance the youth offer to the community, as directed by senior leadership. 11. Establish contact and develop relationships with young people and residents through a variety of youth work approaches and settings and ensure that staff you manage do the same. 12. Ensure that effective needs analysis, including any relevant assessments, are completed and acted on so that the needs of children and young people in the community are identified and met. 13. Monitor, evaluate and record on all projects using relevant data systems and through the evaluation and planning process, identify gaps and create improvements in services to appeal to young people. This includes providing timely written reports on the progress of specific areas of work. 14. Lead on session briefings, de-briefings, evaluations and recordings, ensuring accuracy of session logs and attention to detail to effectively capture the interactions of each session and pro-actively identify future actions to enhance services delivery. 15. Lead in the organisation of staff meetings and engage in meetings, forums and events as required. 16. Ensure that all delivery within the remit of your role complies with all equalities legislation, health and safety and safeguarding requirements. 17. Ensure the youth provision is delivered in line with REIN’s policies and procedures. 18. Ensure that you and the staff you manage attend regular monthly supervision and complete required initial and ongoing training. Additional Information 19. Criminal Background Check - DBS Safeguarding children and adults is of utmost importance to REIN. This role has been identified as requiring an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check
