About the Role
We are seeking ambitious, outstanding candidates to join our support staff at United Colleges Group, a forward-thinking education provider committed to delivering outstanding, world-class education and skills. United Colleges Group educates over 11,000 learners annually, including 16–18-year-olds, adults, apprentices, and students with high needs across five campuses and two colleges: City of Westminster College and College of North West London. The Cockpit Theatre also forms part of the Group.
With an annual turnover exceeding £50 million, we are one of the top 20 largest college groups in the UK, offering education and training across almost all vocational areas at various levels for learners of all ages and starting points.
The Progress Coach will support curriculum colleagues, including English and maths teams, by following up on student attendance and working to maximise retention and achievement. Responsibilities include contacting students to improve attendance, identifying barriers, implementing support measures, and recording all correspondence on college databases. The role requires proficiency in IT systems including Microsoft Office and Teams.
The Progress Coach will participate in team meetings, provide regular updates on student caseloads, and liaise closely with teaching staff to ensure students with attendance below 85% are followed up with action plans to improve engagement. Collaboration with wider student support teams is essential to create a ‘team around the student’ approach to maximise attendance and success on their courses.
Experience
Experience working with young people is essential. Candidates should be relatable, empathetic, and able to motivate and coach students towards success.
About you
The ideal candidate will be self-sufficient, able to use initiative when necessary, follow directions accurately, and provide feedback to managers without constant supervision.
Qualifications
Not explicitly stated, but a commitment to supporting learners and the ability to work effectively within a team environment is required.
Additional Information
The College is an equal opportunities employer committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults. All staff are expected to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be subject to full vetting procedures including an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services Check.
