About the Role
As an Activity Worker, you will coordinate a programme of ward activities and support service users to engage in a variety of meaningful activity opportunities. You will supervise patients as delegated within your competence and accompany them to on and off-site venues aligned with their care plans. You will observe and report changes in patients’ behaviour related to their mental state, as well as monitor and document their abilities and progress with activities under supervision. You will contribute to maintaining a safe environment by being aware of your own safety and collaborating with the shift co-coordinator to negotiate plans. Acting as a resource, you will assist patients in continuing their interests and skills after discharge. You will also obtain patient and carer feedback to involve them in activity planning decisions. Regular training in the prevention and management of violence will be provided as required. This role involves working closely with the multidisciplinary team and undertaking other related duties in consultation with the ward team.
Experience
Experience working with mental health patients or in a healthcare setting is desirable but not essential. Willingness to learn and develop skills in patient supervision and activity coordination is important.

Compassionate and patient with strong interpersonal skills. Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Reliable and motivated to support patients in their recovery through meaningful engagement. Awareness of safety and risk management in a clinical environment is essential.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required; however, relevant training and experience in mental health or social care will be advantageous. Commitment to undertake training in violence prevention and management as part of the role.
