The Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) is an experienced registered Health Care Professional or Nurse with specialist skills to assess, treat, and manage patients autonomously. The ACP will work closely with senior nursing and consultant staff to develop clinical guidance and new areas of practice across multiple clinical specialties. The role involves making complex clinical decisions, managing deteriorating patients, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
The ACP will also provide clinical leadership, support junior staff, lead service improvements, and contribute to policy development and clinical governance. This role requires advanced clinical skills including Advanced Life Support, Independent Non-Medical Prescribing, and advanced physical assessment.
Experience
- Broad clinical experience relevant to the post, including specialist skills in the relevant specialty
- Experience in critical care outreach (CRT)
- Demonstrated autonomous practice with sound clinical reasoning for acute and critical care conditions
- Experience in audit, research, and evidence-based care
- Evidence of managing clinical services, service innovation, and successful change management
- Ability to lead within and across organisations, developing partnerships locally, regionally, and nationally

- Able to care for level 3 patients outside critical care
- Ability to provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and professional role modelling

Qualifications
- Current valid registration with an appropriate regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, GPhC)
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health, or management related studies
- Master’s level qualification or equivalent experience (completed or in progress)
- Independent prescriber according to Trust policy
- Teaching and assessment qualification
- Advanced physical assessment skills
- Mentorship qualification
- Desirable: certificated specialty courses
