About the Role
The London Borough of Havering is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to lead and oversee the day-to-day service delivery of the integrated front door / multi-agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and the Family Intervention Service. You will ensure the smooth running of the service to a high professional standard, aligned with good practice and guidance. This role involves leading and directing work and practice that positively improves outcomes for children, young people, and their families in Havering.

Key responsibilities include delivering effective, inclusive leadership and management of the services, ensuring high quality against local and national indicators and targets. You will promote and govern excellent face-to-face practice across the service, working collaboratively with social care teams and multi-agency partners. You will take a leading role with the Assistant Director of Early Help and Partnerships in the continuous improvement of the MASH and Family Intervention Service based on performance, risk, and demand.

You will ensure practice complies with current legislation and guidance, delivering high quality assessments, plans, and interventions within timescales to meet assessed needs and improve outcomes. This includes leading and advising on complex cases posing significant risk or attracting high profile attention.

Representing the service at multi-agency meetings, boards, and committees is a key part of the role, alongside managing data compliance and maintaining high-quality administration and record-keeping. You will have responsibility for budgets totaling approximately £500,000, ensuring value for money and effective service delivery, including budget setting and monitoring.

The role also involves leading specific areas of practice and strategic development such as Children’s legal planning and Havering Safeguarding Children’s Partnership, maintaining effective multi-agency collaboration. You will deputise for Assistant Directors or the Director of Starting Well when required.

Additional duties include identifying areas for improvement, delivering training, supporting the Starting Well plan, and leading the development of relevant strategies, policies, procedures, programmes, and projects in line with legislation and best practice. You will ensure all supervisions and Performance Development Reviews are completed within timescales.

Havering is one of the greenest boroughs in London, embracing innovation and new challenges. This role offers opportunities to make a real difference to the lives of local children, young people, and families.
