About the Role
The Natural History Museum is seeking an Analytical Chemistry Technician to support the Bulk Chemistry team in analyzing samples using a variety of advanced analytical instruments and techniques. The role involves working across bulk analytical instruments including ICP-OES/AES, ICP-MS, organic elemental analysis (e.g. CHNS), direct mercury analysis (DMA), and vibrational spectroscopy (e.g. FTIR). The technician will prepare geological, environmental, and biological samples for analysis using methods such as microwave-assisted digestion and fusion. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills and gain exposure to a wide range of analytical chemistry techniques within a collaborative and inclusive research environment.

Requirements

Experience
Experience using analytical instruments for quantitative elemental analysis in an analytical chemistry laboratory is required. Familiarity with sample preparation techniques for bulk elemental analysis and experience in the collection, processing, and organisation of analytical data are essential.

You are motivated and proactive with a strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles. You are an effective communicator and a good team player, eager to develop your skills in a research-focused environment.

Qualifications
A Master's degree in Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related discipline is required.
