About the Role

Les Petits Sunshine Day Nursery is offering an exciting opportunity to start or continue your childcare career while working towards a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification with Parenta Training. You will gain hands-on experience supporting children aged 0-5 and helping them learn, develop and thrive in a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment.

You will support children's learning and development through play and structured activities, assist with creating a safe and welcoming environment, and support children's care routines, wellbeing and independence. You will build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues, observe children's progress and contribute to development records.

The role also involves promoting equality, inclusion and positive behaviour, following safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and confidentiality procedures, reporting welfare concerns appropriately and working as part of a team to provide high-quality care and education.

Requirements

Experience
No specific previous professional childcare experience is stated. The apprenticeship is suitable for someone with a genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to developing their skills through workplace learning.

About You

You will be caring, patient, creative and non-judgemental, with good communication and organisational skills. You should be able to work well as part of a team, demonstrate initiative and attention to detail, and be willing to learn and develop throughout the apprenticeship.

You must also be able to reliably travel to and from the nursery each day and maintain professional conduct when working with children, families and colleagues.

Qualifications

Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship delivered through Parenta Training Limited.

Training will develop knowledge and skills across areas including:

  • Safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and risk management
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Supporting children's health, wellbeing, nutrition and physical activity
  • Respectful care routines, including feeding, nappy changing, toileting, hygiene, rest and sleep
  • Communication with children, including children with EAL or additional needs
  • Supporting children's language, literacy and mathematical development
  • Play, creativity, social development and learning activities
  • Observation, assessment, planning and recording
  • Supporting children's individual development and participation
  • Working effectively with colleagues, professionals, agencies and parents/carers
  • Supporting children through transitions and significant events
  • Promoting equality, inclusion and positive behaviour
  • Supporting parents/carers with children's health, wellbeing, learning and development
  • Reflecting on feedback and identifying opportunities for personal and professional development

Safeguarding & Checks

This role involves regular contact with children and may include regulated activity. Successful applicants will be subject to safer recruitment checks, including:

  • Identity verification
  • Qualification checks where applicable

You will be expected to fulfil safeguarding and child protection responsibilities and maintain professional conduct at all times.

Training

Training will be delivered through a combination of workplace learning, regular progress reviews and ongoing support from a dedicated Parenta tutor. Off-the-job training will follow the requirements of the Occupational Standard and support you in developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to achieve the apprenticeship.
