Salary
£40,404 rising in annual increments to £41,637 per annum (pro rata)
About the Role
This professional, customer-facing role within Lambeth Archives offers the opportunity to work with people and preserve the history of Lambeth’s communities for future generations. You will be part of a small specialist team managing historic records, local studies collections, and a small museum collection in a new purpose-built archive facility. Key responsibilities include developing all aspects of collection management such as processing, cataloguing, and conservation of records to ensure accessibility in line with national standards. You will build relationships with local communities, partner organisations, and stakeholders to enhance public access and participation, develop and deliver educational and outreach initiatives, and oversee the migration of archive catalogues onto Axiell Collections. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of digital archive storage and access and prepare for Archive accreditation. This role supports Lambeth Council’s transformational One Lambeth Programme and aligns with its values of Equity, Ambition, Kindness, and Accountability.
Experience
- A professional Archive qualification with substantial relevant experience
- Experience managing both physical and digital collections
- Understanding of the regulatory landscape including Freedom of Information and Data Protection/GDPR
