About the Role
Mizuho's CIB Structured Financing Group (CSF) is responsible for structuring and executing a broad range of structured finance transactions in partnership with client-facing relationship teams. Within CSF, the Stratum team manages portfolios of European leveraged loans across broadly syndicated and direct lending transactions on behalf of third-party capital. Stratum is Mizuho's Managed Account platform that leverages the bank's deal origination and portfolio management expertise to construct and manage bespoke portfolios for investors.
As an Associate within Stratum, you will support the execution of new transactions and the ongoing management of existing Stratum vehicles, including new investments. Your responsibilities will include financial analysis, credit assessment, and transaction support, working closely with senior team members and gaining experience across structured financing products and client engagement.
Duties include supporting the structuring and execution of structured finance transactions with a focus on Stratum investments, managing Stratum vehicles, identifying emerging portfolio risks, supporting credit analysis and internal approval materials preparation, building and maintaining financial models including downside scenarios, supporting asset approval processes, contributing to client and investor materials, and coordinating with internal teams such as Account Officers, credit, legal, middle and back office.

Experience
3-5 years' experience in leveraged finance, structured finance, credit or a related discipline
Strong foundation in credit analysis across various sectors and financing structures
Solid financial modelling skills including cash flow modelling and scenario analysis
Understanding of structured financing products and transaction execution processes
Exposure to portfolio management and ongoing credit asset monitoring
Familiarity with fund structures, managed accounts or investor-driven capital (preferred)
Experience contributing to investor reporting, portfolio updates or performance analysis (preferred)

Detail-oriented and disciplined with strong analytical skills
Ability to coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Motivated to develop expertise in structured finance and client engagement
Interest in professional development and continuous learning
Qualifications
Progress towards or interest in a professional qualification such as CFA (preferred)
Advanced IT skills including VBA, Python and effective use of AI tools to drive automation, data analysis and process optimisation (preferred)
