About the Role
The Linear Assets team supports the UK’s data and energy security needs by providing land rights for all linear asset sectors in the offshore marine environment, tidal rivers & estuaries, and coastal land across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. This includes telecommunications and data cables, oil & gas pipelines (including gas interconnectors), and electricity transmission cables and offshore electricity structures (including electricity interconnectors and offshore wind connections). The team manages the full lifecycle of seabed leases, from sector planning and development, spatial planning, commercial lease development, operational lease management, to asset decommissioning.

The Asset Manager role is commercially focused on maximising value to The Crown Estate through sustainable leasing of seabed for linear assets. Key responsibilities include customer management, lease obligation delivery, new business development, leading transactions and commercial negotiations, instructing lawyers and managing agents, revenue and cost management, and financial forecasting.

This role requires strong representation of the Linear Assets sector and customer needs within The Crown Estate, working collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders including government departments and regulatory authorities such as DESNZ, DSIT, NESO, Ofgem, OfCom, and the MMO. The Asset Manager will report to a Portfolio Manager and play a key role in supporting strategic initiatives that facilitate the sustainable growth of the UK’s offshore energy and data infrastructure.

Main accountabilities include managing customer relationships and CRM practices, ensuring landlord and tenant compliance with lease obligations, leading commercial negotiations and legal agreements, driving revenue growth through new business opportunities, prioritising health and safety, incorporating corporate sustainability goals, monitoring planning and consenting processes, managing documentation and external instructions, representing The Crown Estate externally, coordinating resources across teams, and managing government and industry stakeholder relationships.
