About the Role
As an Assistant Building Surveyor, you will work closely and collaboratively with the Repairs Team, regional offices, contractors, and wider Property Services colleagues to deliver a seamless, customer-focused service. You will take full ownership of your assigned voids cases from start to finish, ensuring quality, value for money, and compliance with regulations while providing expert technical advice and managing contractor performance.

This role requires you to be visible and hands-on within your local area, balancing site inspections, surveys, and case management. You will work from the Ealing Gateway office two days per week and be flexible to work outside normal hours as needed.

Your focus will be on delivering practical, efficient, and compliant solutions that protect and enhance the homes and wellbeing of residents. Strong organisational and IT skills will support you in managing cases, monitoring budgets, and keeping all parties informed throughout the process.

Clear communication with customers and stakeholders is vital, as is a proactive approach to identifying improvements and driving excellent service delivery. You will be expected to work independently, prioritise effectively, and deliver under pressure.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience in building surveying or building maintenance within a housing or property-related environment
- Knowledge of trades/repairs, including Schedule of Rates and value for money principles

- Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
- IT proficiency with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers and stakeholders
- Proactive, organised, able to prioritise and deliver under pressure
- Flexible approach to working hours including out-of-hours rota and resident surgeries

Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualification (Degree, HND, or HNC) or equivalent experience is desirable
- Basic DBS check required
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferable
