About the Role
Reporting to the Chief of Staff and working closely with the Corporation Secretary, this role provides an exemplary secretariat and administrative function for the Channel 4 Board, ensuring Board business runs smoothly, efficiently, and meets statutory governance obligations. The Assistant Corporation Secretary supports the wider work of the Office of the CEO and plays a key administrative role at the heart of the organisation. This position requires excellent organisational and relationship skills, suitable for an accomplished administrative professional with governance and secretariat experience and a proven track record supporting Executives and/or Board members.
The role includes attending all Board and Board Sub-Committee meetings (Remuneration Committee, Audit & Risk Committee, and others as required), accurately recording, drafting, and distributing minutes, maintaining forward agendas and action lists, coordinating meeting logistics across multiple office locations, and managing Board paper circulation and the Diligent Board paper management app. Additional responsibilities include governance support such as updating Terms of Reference, managing annual declarations and director emoluments, supporting the Annual Report and Board effectiveness reviews, liaising with the Archiving Department, arranging Board training and inductions, and providing administrative support to the Chair and Non-Executive Directors.
The role also involves redacting Board minutes for FOI requests, managing purchase orders and invoicing related to Board activities, and supporting Executive business administration as needed.

Experience
Proven experience operating at Executive Secretary or Assistant Board Secretary level with excellent administrative and secretariat skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and a meticulous approach.
Ability to prioritise workload independently and act with discretion and integrity.
Experience handling highly confidential information with courtesy, diplomacy, and good judgement.
Interest in and broad understanding of good governance issues.
Proven ability to listen actively and draft accurate minutes.
Ability to understand organisational strategy and respond strategically to Board actions.
Experience dealing with senior colleagues and Board members.
Technically confident in digital environments and experienced with content management/board portal systems (e.g. Diligent Boards).
Understanding of statutory requirements of the Channel 4 Corporation and public service broadcaster responsibilities.
Ability and flexibility to work at pace and adapt to changing circumstances.
Basic financial understanding for minute-taking (training provided).
