About the Role
The Assistant Economist will play a crucial role in analysing economic and political risks across countries in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia. Working within the Economics and Country Risk Division of UK Export Finance, you will assess macroeconomic and geopolitical factors to inform policy proposals and support decisions on where and how UKEF can assist British exporters. This role involves producing timely, robust analysis of sovereign and corporate risk, monitoring regional developments, and representing UKEF’s risk assessments internally and externally. You will also contribute to maintaining risk management systems and keep abreast of international macroeconomic and trade developments through research and engagement with academic and professional forums.
Experience
Experience working in a role involving international economics, finance, or risk analysis is essential.
About you
You will have a collaborative approach and be able to establish professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders. You should be able to work independently while recognising when to seek advice or support. Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyse, interpret, and present quantitative and qualitative data to inform decision making are key. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, including the ability to respond with authority and credibility within your area of responsibility. Some overseas travel may be required.
Qualifications
A degree in Economics is essential.
