About the Role
All applicants must be willing to undertake National Security Vetting to work in a prison setting. This vetting will be completed as part of pre-employment checks through Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and the prison vetting team. You will be required to provide proof of right to work documentation, photographic ID, and proof of address. Non-UK passport holders must have correct documentation including a Home Office Share code.
The role involves undertaking psychological assessments of clients using psychological theory, including neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, structured observations, and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members, and others involved in care. You will assist in formulating and delivering care plans involving psychological treatment and management under the supervision of a qualified psychologist within the prison setting.
Additional responsibilities include assisting in coordinating and running therapeutic groups or clinical projects, working collaboratively with other staff to assess and support service users, and contributing to multidisciplinary discussions and care guidelines. You will help develop a psychological framework of understanding and care to benefit all clients across all service settings.
IT responsibilities include creating graphs or charts to summarize data on interventions or treatment programs and assisting in producing visual or user-friendly materials for client interventions.
Teaching, training, and supervision duties involve receiving regular clinical supervision, gaining wider NHS psychology experience beyond the principal service area, developing relevant skills and competencies, and contributing to the training and support of other staff in psychological care.
Management and service development tasks include assisting in the design and implementation of service development projects and attending relevant planning meetings.
Research and service evaluation duties involve assisting in audit and research projects, data collection and analysis, and producing reports and summaries using IT and statistical programs.
Experience
Experience working within psychological services or related clinical settings is desirable. Willingness to work in a secure prison environment and comply with security vetting procedures is essential.
