About the Role
The Assistant Store Manager is second in command to the Store Manager and supports all daily store operations. You will be responsible for maintaining sales performance, profitability, customer satisfaction, merchandising standards, store operations, and training and development across the entire store. You will act as the Store Manager in their absence, ensuring the store meets and exceeds profitability expectations and all KPI targets by driving sales and motivating the team. Key responsibilities include setting the overall store sales plan yearly, monthly, daily, and by individual and department, ensuring excellent customer service by consistently delivering a friendly environment including greeting and acknowledging customers upon entrance. You will analyse sales across all departments and categories to improve average basket size, conversion rates, and overall sales. Additionally, you will identify team strengths, weaknesses, and training needs, ensuring all staff complete required training and receive ongoing coaching and development. Recruiting, hiring, and retaining high-quality management and associates to support succession planning will also be part of your role. Maintaining visual merchandising standards, promotions, cleanliness, and organisation of the sales floor and stockroom is essential. You will create and execute strategies to maximise sales and minimise expenses, maintain high communication levels with team members, and conduct regular personal appraisals.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in retail management or assistant management roles is preferred, demonstrating ability to meet sales targets, manage teams, and maintain store standards.

Motivated and proactive individual with strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and develop a team. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential. You must be willing and available to travel and work from different locations when necessary. Flexibility to work additional hours as required by the job is expected. You should be committed to maintaining high standards in line with company policies and procedures.

Qualifications
There are no specific qualifications required; however, retail management experience and a strong understanding of store operations, sales strategies, and customer service are highly desirable.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Participating in and attending all store meetings and related functions
- Performing housekeeping and maintenance duties as required
- Adhering to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials
- Assuming and completing other duties as assigned by management
