About the Role
Fundamental Equities (FE) is part of BlackRock's Portfolio Management Group (PMG), providing a global investment platform with a comprehensive range of actively managed, high conviction equity strategies. FE's global hybrid research model combines independent team expertise with platform-wide collaboration to deliver high conviction portfolios aimed at generating alpha for clients.

This Associate level Core Portfolio Manager role supports the Emerging Markets and Frontiers (EM&F) team within BlackRock's Fundamental Equity business. Based in London, the role requires an energetic, high-performing individual focused on investment workflows and control aspects of the investment process. The successful candidate will thrive in a demanding environment, managing daily market-sensitive tasks alongside broader project goals.

Key responsibilities include developing a deep understanding of the EM&F team's investment process, vehicles, and markets; implementing equity, derivative, and FX orders across active strategies in partnership with global trading desks to ensure efficient execution; proactively monitoring funds to optimize investment strategy implementation and governance; leveraging financial market knowledge and technical skills including Aladdin applications/APIs to evolve processes and implement robust solutions; and daily interaction with portfolio managers, product strategists, global trading, client businesses, and operational support teams.

Requirements

Experience
2-4 years' experience in finance or technology roles. Exposure to equity markets and hedge funds is preferred. Experience with Python for data analysis, automation, and API integration, including version control systems such as ADO/GitHub. Knowledge of data structures, databases (SQL), and data visualization/reporting tools like Power BI. Interest in emerging technologies including AI tools to enhance productivity and insight generation.

A degree in business, finance, computing, or financial engineering is a strong advantage. IMC qualification preferred.

Qualifications
Degree in relevant field preferred. IMC qualification is desirable but not mandatory.
