We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to build reliable, scalable technology that addresses complex business challenges within BlackRock Global Markets. You will work closely with colleagues across the business to design, develop, test, and support highly performant distributed Java-based applications, including real-time streaming systems handling high volume and concurrent workloads.

Key responsibilities include partnering with stakeholders to understand requirements; presenting designs to technical reviewers; contributing to design and code reviews; improving reliability, observability, and performance; and supporting production releases to meet service level agreements. This role is part of BGM's In-Business technology group based in London, a diverse team of computer scientists, user experience designers, and data analytics engineers operating globally.

Experience
- Typically 3+ years of software development experience, ideally within the financial services industry
- Proficient in Java as the primary programming language
- Experience with distributed, real-time streaming applications and high-volume concurrent workloads

Qualifications
- Knowledge of Spring, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture
- Experience with relational databases such as MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Sybase ASE
- Familiarity with streaming technologies like Kafka and Apache Flink
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices, including tools like Azure DevOps
- Knowledge of leveraging AI for code generation and building agents is desirable
