About the Role
We are seeking an Associate Publisher to manage a portfolio of open access journals within our division, including both society and proprietary public health journals. Reporting to an Executive Publisher, you will be responsible for the management, strategic development, and success of individual journals, liaising with internal staff, external journal Editors, and the scientific community.

Key responsibilities include:
- Driving portfolio development and management with accountability for results
- Developing and implementing annual development plans and exploring business development opportunities
- Managing annual targets for journal submissions, publications, transfers, and turnaround times
- Delivering best-in-class author experience and fostering engagement with Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Board Members, and Societies
- Demonstrating resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, managing changing priorities and challenges
- Resolving pre- and post-publication issues such as authorship, scope, ethics, misconduct, and policies
- Utilizing data analytics and quantitative skills to support data-driven decision-making and strategic planning
- Managing contract negotiations with external parties, including financial profit & loss statements and forecasting
- Building strong working relationships with colleagues, researchers, and external Editors and balancing stakeholder needs
- Keeping up to date with changes within the research community and publishing industry

Requirements

Experience
- Educated to Bachelor's degree level or equivalent, preferably in life, biomedical, or health sciences
- Experience in developing and maintaining productive relationships with academic and industry researchers
- Strong technical skills with sharp attention to detail
- Experience in journal or book academic publishing is desirable but not essential

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with persuasion and influencing abilities including diplomacy and assertiveness

- Willingness to travel occasionally for the role

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field is preferred
