About the Role
The AV & Events Assistant is the behind-the-scenes magic-maker bringing Hachette UK and Hachette Children's Group events to life — both on screen and in person. From producing unforgettable live events and author filmings to editing dynamic video content on DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and After Effects, live-streaming experiences, crafting eye-catching marketing assets, sound design and delivering polished films, this role sits at the heart of creative storytelling. Part producer, part creative technician, part problem-solver, you’ll use professional AV expertise to turn ideas into engaging experiences that captivate audiences, support authors, and elevate the Hachette brand across every platform. As important as the technical skills are, strong people skills are equally essential given the variety of stakeholders you will work with.
Key responsibilities include:
- Editing motion graphics and animations across After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and Lightroom
- Creating sizzle reels, book trailers, short films and more
- Editing marketing author content, focusing on colour grading, audio, and Instagram reel content
- Setting up and filming using equipment such as DSLR cameras, gimbals, lights, and stands while liaising with stakeholders and authors
- Assisting in directing short films and producing multimedia events, including in-person, online and hybrid events involving PA, streaming equipment and photography
Experience
- Media or film production qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience
- Proficient in filming equipment such as DSLR cameras, gimbals, lights, and stands

- Proven track record delivering multimedia productions including in-person, online and hybrid events (e.g. OBS)
- Experience with PA and streaming equipment
About you
- Strong people skills with clear communication and confidence liaising with multiple stakeholders
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment while multitasking and prioritising simultaneous projects
- Highly organised, efficient, and self-starting
- Comfortable working evenings and attending the office regularly
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in administrative organisation or production
- Effective time management skills
Qualifications
