About the Role
As an AWS Platform Engineer at Appvia, you will play a pivotal role in assisting clients with their transition to Cloud and DevOps environments. Leveraging your expertise in cloud technologies and best practices, you will work autonomously to execute tasks, set priorities, and deliver exceptional results. You will collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to design, implement, and optimise cloud solutions aligned with their business objectives. You will be responsible for designing scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native solutions, implementing CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices, and engaging with clients to understand their business needs. This role requires eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC) and offers the opportunity to work within a specialist cloud and platform engineering consultancy focused on enabling organisations to deliver applications confidently in the cloud.

Important
You must either hold active Security Clearance (SC) or be eligible for SC:
- British Passport or Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)
- Have resided in the UK for at least the last 5 years
- Have no criminal records

Responsibilities
- Independently assess client infrastructure, identify improvement opportunities, and develop cloud migration and optimisation strategies
- Execute tasks and set priorities without direct supervision, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project timelines
- Design and implement scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native solutions based on best practices and client requirements
- Implement CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices to streamline development and deployment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure successful project delivery
- Engage with clients to understand business requirements, communicate technical concepts, and recommend appropriate cloud solutions
- Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in cloud computing and DevOps, contributing to internal knowledge sharing
Skills
- Platform Engineering: Proficiency in AWS cloud technologies and platforms is essential
- Automation: Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation and scripting languages like Python or Ruby
- Container Orchestration: Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
- Public Cloud Expertise: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and DevOps practices
- Working Independently: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Communication and Collaboration: Effective verbal and written communication skills to work with clients and internal teams
Qualifications
- Certification in relevant cloud technologies at expert/professional level is highly desirable, for example:
