About the Role
As a Backend Developer at Lush, you will contribute to backend services and tooling that support the global business. Your responsibilities include developing custom software such as REST APIs, GraphQL subgraphs, extending open-source software like Saleor and ERPNext, and integrating with third-party solutions including Power BI and CloudSQL. You will work on innovative solutions tailored for Lush’s unique use cases. This role suits candidates passionate about building high-quality, performant products for a global business. We are ideally seeking a Midweight Engineer but also welcome strong, ambitious Junior Engineers with foundational skills and a great attitude ready to advance their careers.

Experience
A minimum of 1 year of professional experience is required. Experience building web applications using Node.js frameworks such as Express or Hono. Proficient TypeScript developer with a strong interest in TypeScript's coding philosophy. Experience building GraphQL APIs, specifically using Apollo Federation. Comfortable writing complex SQL queries and working with ORMs such as Prisma or Drizzle. Strong working knowledge of Git. Understanding of application packaging and deployment. Some knowledge of Docker is desirable.

Ability to translate product or business requirements into technological initiatives. Able to autonomously debug and resolve issues. Passionate about writing clear, maintainable, and scalable code. Collaborative mindset to work effectively with engineers, QAs, designers, and partners. Enthusiastic about researching and implementing innovative techniques to enhance development processes.

Qualifications
No formal qualifications are explicitly required, but a solid foundation in backend development, TypeScript, and related technologies is essential. A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the role are highly valued.
