About the Role
You will be responsible for the collection of clinical samples (tissue and blood) from multiple units and sites across the Royal Marsden and the Institute of Cancer Research. This role includes the day-to-day management of samples from multi-centre studies hosted by the Gynae clinical research unit. You will liaise closely with clinicians, surgeons, research nurses, pathologists, and laboratory staff to identify and coordinate sample collection. Effective communication with team members and research teams is essential. You will work independently, using your own initiative to plan and prioritise your workload. It is vital to ensure that the principles of the Human Tissue Act and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) are upheld at all times and that all samples collected have appropriate patient consent.
Experience
Experience in clinical sample handling or coordination within a research or healthcare setting is desirable. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently is essential.
About you
You should have excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of healthcare professionals. You must be organised, proactive, and able to prioritise workload effectively. A strong understanding of ethical and regulatory requirements related to clinical sample collection is important.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or experience in clinical research, biomedical sciences, or a related field are preferred. Knowledge of the Human Tissue Act and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines is advantageous.
