About the Role
As Brand & Communications Designer, you will be responsible for bringing Apolitical’s brand, insights, products, and campaigns to life through high-quality visual communications. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across Communications, Partnerships, Product, Research, Learning, and leadership teams to create compelling visual assets that communicate complex ideas, showcase data and insights, and strengthen Apolitical’s presence across digital channels, events, reports, and customer-facing materials. This highly cross-functional role requires working independently within established brand systems while helping improve design processes, asset management, and ways of working across the organisation. You will play a key role in ensuring consistency and quality across Apolitical’s external communications while adapting creative assets for a wide variety of audiences and formats. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to help shape the brand evolution and collaborate with external creative partners by developing briefs, providing design feedback, and ensuring alignment with Apolitical’s brand and communications objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Adapt existing templates and create bespoke visual assets for social media, email campaigns, events, product launches, and insights reports.
- Design event collateral and promotional materials for convenings including the flagship event Apolitical Day.
- Shape creative approaches supporting Apolitical’s strategic communications priorities.
- Design email campaign templates and create visually consistent communications across email channels.
- Create lightweight motion graphics and simple animations for social media, events, campaigns, and product launches.
- Collaborate with Research and Communications teams to transform reports, analysis, and thought leadership into visually engaging digital publications with infographics and data visualisations.
- Design and maintain presentation decks, proposals, and supporting materials for Sales, Partnerships, and leadership teams.
- Apply, maintain, and help evolve Apolitical’s visual brand identity.
- Collaborate with Product Design and Communications stakeholders to ensure alignment between product and communications experiences.
- Act as a day-to-day steward of Apolitical’s visual identity, ensuring all communications touchpoints adhere to the brand system.
- Maintain and organise asset libraries, templates, and design resources enabling teams to self-serve and produce on-brand materials.
- Brief, manage, and review work from external agencies and freelance partners in collaboration with colleagues, ensuring all assets meet brand standards and quality benchmarks.
Experience
- Experience working in communications, marketing, brand, or graphic design roles in a fast-moving organisation.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously without extensive creative direction.
- Strong visual design skills across digital, social, presentation, and publication formats.
- Experience working within established brand systems while adapting assets for new use cases.
- Experience translating complex ideas, data, and research into engaging visual communications.
- Confident collaboration with stakeholders across different teams and organisational levels.
- Experience creating structure, systems, and processes that improve efficiency and consistency.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and creativity while maintaining strong human judgement and quality standards.
About You
- Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
- Motivated by Apolitical’s mission to help governments solve complex challenges.
- Enjoy balancing multiple projects and formats rather than focusing exclusively on one type of design work.
- Comfortable working with varying levels of creative direction.
- Excited to contribute to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
