Hours
Full Time - 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Typical start time around 8am with some flexibility as the role evolves. This role requires regular inspections across the borough with no facility for home working.

Salary
£35,391 to £42,888 per annum

About the Role
Are you interested in helping maintain the safety of residents in Council-owned buildings? Join a new team of professional building inspectors responsible for ensuring safety standards are met and maintained across council-managed residential blocks and estates. Your duties will include conducting health and safety inspections, monitoring fire safety, water quality, asbestos checks, and fire door inspections to residents’ dwellings to ensure compliance with current standards. You will identify any areas below standard and arrange for necessary repairs. Comprehensive training will be provided, though a basic knowledge of fire safety is beneficial. This role involves physical activity such as climbing stairs and ladders to access inspection sites. A driver’s licence is preferable but not essential.

Experience
- Good understanding of building and fire safety legislation as it applies to residential buildings and estates.
- Practical knowledge of building and construction services.
- Experience dealing with the public face to face in a variety of situations, including occasionally stressful ones.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders to access lift motor rooms and complete inspections.

Qualifications
