About the Role
Make a real difference to residents’ homes, safety, and wellbeing by joining Peabody’s Repairs Team as an experienced Building Surveyor specialising in legal disrepair. You will lead the delivery of legal disrepair cases, ensuring residents receive a high-quality and timely service. This specialist surveying role involves managing disrepair cases end-to-end in compliance with the Housing Disrepair Protocol. Your responsibilities will include inspecting properties, diagnosing defects, gathering clear evidence, producing accurate reports and schedules within one week, specifying works, estimating costs, and managing contractors. You will monitor delivery, carry out post-inspections, sign off works, keep residents informed, maintain strong communication throughout, and support legal processes. Dedicated administrative support is provided, allowing you to focus on inspections, reports, repair specifications, and contractor management while the central admin team handles appointment scheduling and case administration.

Recruitment Process
Our recruitment process is fair, inclusive, and transparent. Interviews will be held in person on 5 August at our Ealing office. A Basic DBS check is required and will be facilitated. A driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
Experience
Strong experience in legal disrepair within social housing.
Proven ability to manage disrepair cases end-to-end.
Skilled in inspections, report writing, and contractor management.
Knowledge of building defects, legislation, and construction standards.

Highly organised and able to manage a fast-paced caseload while meeting deadlines.
Strong communication skills with residents and stakeholders.
Committed to delivering high-quality technical services and excellent resident experience.
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent technical qualification in Building Surveying, Building Pathology, or similar (HND/HNC acceptable).
Ideally RICS affiliated.
Basic DBS clearance required.
Driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred.
