About the Role
Nuclear Transport Solutions (NTS) is seeking an ambitious and commercially focused Business Development / Contract Manager for a 1-year fixed-term role. This position plays a key role in supporting strategic growth, managing customer contracts, and expanding NTS into new markets across nuclear decommissioning, nuclear new build, and defence sectors. You will act as the commercial lead for customer contract management and administration, while supporting the delivery of strategic bids, special projects, and business development initiatives. Working closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, you will identify new opportunities, develop commercial strategies, and contribute to the long-term success of NTS. This role offers a clear development pathway towards a Senior Contracts Manager position and includes support for professional accreditation.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the commercial lead for managing and administering customer contracts. Support and lead strategic bids and special projects that drive growth and diversification. Develop commercial strategies to maximise new business opportunities while delivering value for customers and sustainable outcomes for NTS. Monitor market developments and identify opportunities across nuclear decommissioning, new build, and defence sectors. Deliver marketing and key account management initiatives to support business growth and market expansion. Support preparation and management of business plans and budgets for the NTS Solutions business. Contribute to knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement in contract management practices. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, government organisations, regulators, and other key stakeholders. Support the development of commercial apprentices and graduates. Champion NTS culture and values through freedom, helpfulness, and drive.
Training & Development
This role offers excellent development opportunities including support towards professional accreditation such as International Association for Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM) or equivalent commercial qualifications, and Grade A/B Practitioner status through the Government Commercial Organisation (GCO) Assessment and Development Centre. You will develop advanced commercial, business development, and stakeholder management skills through practical experience and mentoring.
Experience
- Contract development, negotiation, and contract management experience.
- Building strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
- Developing commercial proposals and supporting business growth initiatives.
- Managing multiple priorities, projects, and competing deadlines.
- Experience in nuclear, transport, logistics, engineering, or other highly regulated sectors is advantageous.
Knowledge
- Contract and competition law.
- Commercial strategy development and contract negotiation principles.
- Awareness of the nuclear industry and market opportunities across decommissioning, new build, and defence sectors.
- Understanding of bid development, business planning, and market analysis is beneficial.

Qualifications
