About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Catering & Travel & Tourism Lecturer to join our Service Industries department. You will deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Catering, Travel & Tourism, and Hospitality programmes, supporting learners to achieve their full potential. The role involves classroom, practical and industry-based delivery, learner support, assessment, and contribution to curriculum development to ensure provision remains current, industry-relevant and aligned with awarding body requirements.

Where appropriate, you may take responsibility for leading a study programme or course, including curriculum design, quality assurance and learner outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering engaging and effective teaching, training and assessment across Catering, Hospitality and Travel & Tourism programmes
- Planning and delivering theoretical, practical and industry-focused sessions that develop learners’ knowledge, skills, confidence and employability
- Preparing lesson plans, schemes of work and high-quality teaching materials in line with College and awarding body requirements
- Delivering practical catering sessions ensuring high standards of food preparation, presentation, service and professional practice
- Supporting learners to develop industry-relevant skills in food preparation, culinary techniques, customer service, hospitality operations, travel, tourism and destination knowledge
- Acting as a Personal Tutor providing academic and pastoral support and delivering the College tutorial programme
- Monitoring learner attendance, progress, behaviour and achievement, taking appropriate action where required
- Integrating English and Maths into vocational teaching and supporting delivery of GCSE and/or Functional Skills where required
- Acting as an internal assessor and internal verifier where required
- Promoting employability and professional skills including communication, teamwork, customer service, problem-solving and professional standards
- Contributing to practical activities, enrichment, events, educational visits, industry projects and other experiences that enhance learner development
- Supporting learner recruitment activities including open evenings, interviews, taster sessions and course promotion
- Supporting work experience, industry engagement activities, external visits and employer partnerships across catering, hospitality, travel and tourism sectors
- Developing and maintaining effective links with employers, hotels, restaurants, tourism organisations, travel companies, airlines, visitor attractions and other relevant industry partners
- Promoting high standards of health and safety, food hygiene, safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion
- Ensuring practical learning environments meet professional, food safety and health and safety standards
- Contributing to quality improvement processes including self-assessment, course review, learner feedback and evaluation
- Maintaining up-to-date vocational and industry knowledge and meeting minimum occupational competence requirements
- Supporting learners in preparing for progression into employment, apprenticeships, higher education or further study within the catering, hospitality, travel and tourism sectors

Experience
Proven experience delivering teaching, training and assessment in Catering, Hospitality, Travel & Tourism or related sectors is highly desirable. Experience in curriculum development, learner support and assessment is advantageous.
