Hours
Core working hours approximately 1pm to 9pm to ensure availability during peak youth club sessions, with flexibility on quieter, admin-focused days.
Salary
£33,670 per annum
About the Role
This role combines clinical therapeutic duties with integrated youth work within a busy Youth Club environment. You will conduct initial assessments, triage, and risk assessments for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, low mood, behavioural difficulties, or other common mental health concerns. You will deliver low-intensity, evidence-based interventions such as guided self-help, behavioural activation, graded exposure, worry management, and parent-led approaches on a 1:1 or group basis, in-person.
Working flexibly within the Youth Club, you will participate in general activities, drop-in sessions, group programmes, outings, and events to build trusting relationships and reduce barriers to mental health support. You will deliver or co-deliver non-clinical youth work sessions including well-being workshops, social skills groups, creative activities, sports, or holiday programmes that promote positive mental health and community belonging.
You will collaborate closely with the Youth Club team, volunteers, and partner agencies to create a holistic, integrated offer for young people. Your approach will adapt to emerging needs, providing informal emotional support during club sessions or contributing to crisis de-escalation alongside colleagues. This blended approach ensures mental health support is normalised, accessible, and responsive.
Additional responsibilities include working with the data team to ensure accurate data collection and reporting, monitoring outcomes using routine outcome measures, providing psychoeducation and self-management strategies, and maintaining confidential clinical records in line with organisational policies and data protection requirements.
This role requires flexibility to respond proactively to the evolving needs of St. Andrews Youth Club and Allkind Mental Health, including undertaking any other reasonable duties to support young people and the service.
Experience
Experience in delivering low-intensity mental health interventions and working with children and young people is desirable. Experience in youth work or community settings is advantageous.
About you
You will be adaptable, empathetic, and able to build trusting relationships with young people. You should be comfortable working in a dynamic youth club environment, able to balance clinical and non-clinical duties, and work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential.
You must be committed to maintaining professional standards, confidentiality, and safeguarding the wellbeing of young people.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in mental health, youth work, social work, psychology, or related fields are expected. You should be willing to engage in ongoing professional development, supervision, and training to maintain up-to-date knowledge of theoretical and service delivery models.
