About the Role
Building on a strong track record of pioneering research, EMS Healthcare is collaborating with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, University of Cambridge, and the Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Queen Mary University of London Cancer Prevention Trials Unit (CPTU) to deliver the BEST4 Screening Study. This clinical trial focuses on the early detection of oesophageal cancer using the Capsule Sponge test, aiming to reduce mortality through early diagnosis. The study will recruit 120,000 participants across approximately five UK regions using BEST4 mobile units.
As a Clinical Research Practitioner, you will manage clinics on the BEST4 mobile units, administering the Capsule Sponge test and supporting recruitment and data collection. You will work alongside clinical teams, researchers, nurses, and administrators to ensure smooth delivery of the trial. The role requires travel between sites and close liaison with the National Clinical Coordinator and project teams at QMUL, Cambridge, and EMS Healthcare.
You will be responsible for clinical and regulatory compliance, ensuring each participant’s journey is handled with the highest standards of care and professionalism. Experience
- Clinical experience working with patients
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Prior research experience is desirable
- Experience in cancer research and nurse/practitioner-led clinics is advantageous
- Familiarity with Capsule Sponge device and upper GI or endoscopy experience is a plus

Qualifications
- Relevant healthcare qualification (e.g. Paramedic, Midwife, Radiographer, Dietitian or equivalent)
- Continued professional development (CPD)
- Degree in a related subject area is desirable
- Registered Nurse (NMC) registration is advantageous
- ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Immediate Life Support training

- Full, clean UK manual driving licence (standard car licence sufficient)
- Commitment to maintaining mandatory training and compliance with local policies and procedures
