About the Role
Hackney is one of the most dynamic and progressive local authorities in the UK. We are a resilient, vibrant, and creative borough in the heart of London, with strong, diverse communities and a powerful set of shared values. Over the past twenty years, the Council has built up first-class services, outstanding public infrastructure, and a reputation for excellence, innovation, and ambition. We are leading the way on essential work such as our fight for equity in Hackney with a particular focus on becoming an actively anti-racist borough. Our commitment extends to fairness across gender, neurodiversity, and poverty divides.
Adult Social Care's vision is "Building on Strengths, Making Connections". We want you to achieve what matters to you, in partnership with our communities in Hackney. Where you need support, together we can find a solution that keeps you safe, well and independent.
The Transformation Team is a dynamic and creative team shaping how Adult Social Care evolves. We work alongside residents, staff and partners to deliver ambitious programmes of change that improve outcomes, embed innovation and strengthen our culture of collaboration. Co-production is central to everything we do.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Co-Production & Engagement Officer to champion meaningful involvement across Adult Social Care. This is an exciting opportunity to influence how services are designed, reviewed and improved by ensuring that people with lived experience are genuine partners in decision-making.
Working across a wide range of transformation programmes and service improvement initiatives, you will support colleagues to embed co-production into projects, develop creative and accessible engagement approaches, build staff capability through guidance and training, and ensure that the impact of co-production is evidenced across the organisation. You will also work closely with residents, carers, community organisations, health partners and other stakeholders to strengthen relationships and ensure diverse voices shape the future of Adult Social Care in Hackney.
This role plays an important part in supporting our commitment to equality, inclusion and anti-racist practice, ensuring our engagement approaches actively reduce inequalities and enable participation from communities whose voices are too often underrepresented.
As a Council, our most outstanding asset is our staff, who are highly dedicated to serving our residents and committed to our organisational goals. If you want to work in a place where you can represent our values and help achieve the best for our residents, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact.
Experience
- Proven experience leading co-production, engagement or participation programmes within Adult Social Care, the NHS, local government or a similar public service environment.
- Experience supporting service improvement or transformation programmes with the ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining a strong focus on delivery.
- Skilled in designing and delivering accessible engagement activities using diverse approaches such as workshops, focus groups, one-to-one conversations and community events.
About you
- Passionate about empowering people with lived experience and understanding how meaningful co-production leads to better services and outcomes.
- Excellent facilitation, communication and relationship-building skills, confident working with residents, staff, senior leaders and partner organisations.
- Committed to equality, inclusion and anti-racist practice, ensuring all residents have opportunities to influence the services they use.
- Confident in developing guidance, delivering training and supporting colleagues to embed co-production into everyday practice.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are stated as mandatory; however, relevant experience and a commitment to the values and behaviours of the Council are essential.
