About the Role
Fixed Term / Secondment Opportunity – 12 Months
Hackney is one of the most dynamic and progressive local authorities in the UK. We are a resilient, vibrant, and creative borough in the heart of London, with strong, diverse communities and a powerful set of shared values.
Over the past twenty years, the Council has built up first-class services, outstanding public infrastructure, and a reputation for excellence, innovation, and ambition. We are leading the way on essential work such as our fight for equity in Hackney with a particular focus on becoming an actively anti-racist borough. We are also proactive in bringing fairness to all aspects of life including gender, neurodiversity, and across the poverty divide.
Adult Social Care’s vision: Building on Strengths, Making Connections
“We want you to achieve what matters to you, in partnership with our communities in Hackney. Where you need support, together we can find a solution that keeps you safe, well and independent.”
Our department’s key behaviours:
- Working together
- Communicate honestly
- Encourage wellbeing
- Accountable and learning
The Transformation Team is a dynamic and creative team with a unique role in shaping how Adult Social Care evolves. We work alongside residents, staff and partners to deliver ambitious programmes of change that improve outcomes, embed innovation and strengthen our culture of collaboration. Co-production is central to everything we do.
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Co-production & Engagement Officer to champion meaningful involvement across Adult Social Care. This is an exciting opportunity to influence how services are designed, reviewed and improved by ensuring that people with lived experience are genuine partners in decision-making.
Working across a wide range of transformation programmes and service improvement, you will support colleagues to embed co-production into projects, develop creative and accessible engagement approaches, build staff capability through guidance and training and ensure that the impact of co-production is evidenced across the organisation. You will also work closely with residents, carers, community organisations, health partners and other stakeholders to strengthen relationships and ensure diverse voices shape the future of Adult Social Care in Hackney.
This role will also play an important part in supporting our commitment to equality, inclusion and anti-racist practice, ensuring our approaches to engagement actively reduce inequalities and enable participation from communities whose voices are too often underrepresented.
This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on how Adult Social Care works with residents, helping us build services that are designed with people, not for them.
As a Council, our most outstanding asset is our staff, who are highly dedicated to serving our residents and committed to our goals as an organisation.
If you want to work in a place where you can represent our values so we achieve the best for our residents, please apply. We operate a fair and open anonymous selection process and do not accept supporting statements or CVs. You will need to complete competency based questions to demonstrate your suitability for the role.
We are working towards a vision to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved. We look for people who are: Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive; Inclusive.
Experience
- Leading co-production, engagement or participation programmes within Adult Social Care, the NHS, local government or a similar public service environment.
- Supporting service improvement or transformation programmes while balancing multiple priorities.
About you
- Passionate about empowering people with lived experience and understanding how meaningful co-production leads to better services and outcomes.
- Excellent facilitation, communication and relationship-building skills, able to work confidently with residents, staff, senior leaders and partner organisations.
- Skilled in designing and delivering accessible engagement activities using a variety of approaches including workshops, focus groups, one-to-one conversations and community events.
- Committed to equality, inclusion and anti-racist practice, ensuring all residents have opportunities to influence the services they use.
- Confident in developing guidance, delivering training and supporting colleagues to embed co-production into everyday practice.
Qualifications
