About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Committee Advisor to join the Governance, Committee Services Function within the Healthcare Quality and Access group at the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). The Committee Services Team provides non-scientific secretariat support to over 50 independent expert advisory committees that are critical to the Agency’s regulation of medicines and medical devices. You will lead and manage a range of independent advisory committees, ensuring their smooth and effective operation. Working closely with Chairs and the wider Committee Services Team, you will oversee scheduling, preparation, and support of Committees, Advisory Groups, and Working Groups. The role involves liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure meetings are efficient, deliver meaningful outcomes, and comply with governance standards. This position is integral to upholding high standards of governance and supporting MHRA’s policy objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Chairs and committee members, acting as the primary liaison to ensure smooth meeting operations in compliance with the Human Medicines Regulations.
- Collaborate closely with team members across the organisation to ensure consistency in committee meeting organisation.
- Manage the timely production, management, and storage of agendas and minutes.
- Oversee the collection and management of Declarations of Interest in line with policies.
- Support the appointment of new members in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Identify process improvements and contribute to policy and procedure development.
- Assist in producing annual reports for Advisory Bodies and MHRA committees.
- Draft responses to Parliamentary Questions, Private Office correspondence, and Freedom of Information requests.
- Collect and monitor business metrics to assess team performance.
- Provide advice and mentorship to staff, fostering a team capable of delivering innovative solutions.
Experience
Demonstrable professional experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and collaborative office environment, including working directly with a range of stakeholders to gather evidence and contribute to organisational outcomes.
About You
Clear understanding of the code of conduct and practices for advisory committees, including governance and compliance with organisational policies. Excellent IT skills with proficiency in MS Office and a willingness to learn new software packages. Strong communication, influencing, and teamwork skills with the ability to manage quality service and deliver at pace.
