About the Role
The Data Center Construction Cost Control (CCC) team is part of a highly creative and driven group dedicated to deploying Amazon's continuously evolving data center facilities. As a Construction Cost Engineer, you will provide cost support, guidance, and recommendations to the project delivery team to ensure effective cost management and analysis across a portfolio of fast-paced construction projects. You will be involved in the full life cycle of construction projects, collaborating with experts from design, construction, procurement, finance, and legal teams to deliver efficient and innovative data centers across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
You will help drive multimillion-dollar projects by applying Amazon Leadership principles including frugality and insisting on the highest standards. This role requires managing third-party Quantity Surveyors, validating construction cost estimates at various design stages, communicating cost control goals to stakeholders, identifying value engineering opportunities, and maintaining historical cost data repositories. You will define and track cost performance metrics, lead monthly cost reporting, analyze vendor proposals, create bid leveling documents, validate final award amounts, and implement cost control, change management, progress, and performance reporting.
Additionally, you will ensure vendor invoices are accurate and timely, support project close-out and final payments, and consistently deliver results across multiple projects. Experience
- 8+ years of experience in construction cost control, specifically with electrical, mechanical, or CSA cost elements.
- Experience communicating estimate strategy to construction and non-construction professionals.
- Experience working in Data Center or other mission-critical construction environments.
- Experience reviewing and justifying budgets and estimates.
- Experience on Data Centre or Life Science type projects is preferred.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of how to improve code quality and optimize BI processes (e.g., speed, cost, reliability) is preferred.
