About the Role
The Consultant in Clinical Oncology will provide expert clinical oncology services within the Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust, focusing on neuro and prostate oncology. Responsibilities include diagnosis and treatment of patients across hospital, health centre, clinic, or other premises as required. The post holder will maintain continuing clinical responsibility for their patients, including domiciliary consultations and care for patients under the National Health Service Act 1977 where applicable.
The role involves working in joint-clinic settings supported by other oncologists within a multidisciplinary team (MDT). Inpatient care is delivered via a ward attending rota system shared among clinical oncology consultants, requiring approximately two ward cover weeks per year.
Consultants are expected to contribute to undergraduate teaching, training and supervision of junior doctors, clinical research and trials, clinical governance activities including audit and risk management, and clinical service management and development.
Additional duties include participation in clinical governance, performance management, medical staff management, strategy and business planning, leadership, and team working. The post holder will also represent the Trust at clinical networks and external meetings as delegated.
Administrative support including medical secretaries, treatment schedulers, and IT resources will be provided.
Experience
Medically qualified with GMC specialist registration and a licence to practice. Proven ability to provide high-quality clinical oncology care and participate in clinical research and teaching.
Experience in managing clinical teams and contributing to clinical governance and service development is essential.

Qualifications
Medical qualification with GMC specialist registration in Clinical Oncology. Licence to practice in the UK.
Experience or willingness to undertake roles such as Educational Supervisor and appraiser.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining competencies required for the post.
