About the Role
Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a talented Contracts Manager to support Amazon Web Services (AWS), a rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. AWS leads the cloud computing industry by providing IT infrastructure services including on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and more. This role focuses on supporting teams responsible for the full lifecycle of AWS data center infrastructure, covering contracts related to design, construction, operation, maintenance, and physical security of AWS data centers and related infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a high volume of contracts across diverse data center activities such as general contractor and engineering/design vendor agreements, operations, maintenance, security services contracts, work orders, change orders, and ancillary agreements. The Contracts Manager will provide day-to-day legal and commercial advice to business clients on projects, negotiations, vendor management, and communications.
This role requires proactive partnership with procurement, finance, engineering, construction, operations, and security stakeholders to anticipate needs, assess and manage risk, and deliver timely, actionable guidance. The successful candidate will drive legal and business-facing process improvements to enable scalable and efficient contract management, including workflow automation, standardization, and adoption of AI tools and legal technology to enhance contract quality, speed, and scalability.
Experience
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-tech company or managing multiple assignments with strict deadlines
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Experience with legal contracts and contract negotiation
- Proven ability to manage a high volume of contracts simultaneously across diverse categories and counterparties
- Experience providing legal and commercial advice to internal stakeholders
- Experience with construction, design, facilities management, operations, maintenance, or physical security contracts is preferred
- Prior in-house experience supporting global teams at a technology company or large-scale infrastructure organization is preferred
- Experience managing outside counsel engagements, including budget oversight and performance evaluation is a plus
- Proficiency in contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms or legal operations technology is preferred
