Salary
Tutors are paid directly by schools at a recommended rate of £43.87 per hour for teaching. Payment for training and CPD is made by Southwark Council at £27.42 per hour.

About the Role
Southwark Music Service is seeking dedicated Curriculum Music Tutors to deliver high-quality music education across the borough. In this role, you will provide music tuition to children and young people, supporting the core and extension roles of the National Plan for Music Education. You will plan, deliver, and evaluate whole-class and small-group lessons, foster performance opportunities, and maintain positive relationships with pupils and staff. Key responsibilities include planning and teaching curriculum music lessons aligned with the Southwark Music Service scheme of work, liaising with schools on timetabling and pupil progress, organising pupil performances, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of teaching developments, managing Southwark Music Service instruments, ensuring pupil safety and wellbeing, and attending required training and meetings.

Experience
- Experience in group music teaching with a strong understanding of effective pedagogy.
- Ability to inspire and engage children in a positive learning environment.

Qualifications
