About the Role
The Telegraph is seeking a sharp, creative, and highly motivated Daily Video News Editor to join our fast-paced video desk. This role demands speed, productivity, and sharp editorial judgment, focusing on identifying the most compelling visual moments across News, Foreign, Global Health, and Lifestyle beats. You will clip these moments into highly engaging short-form content for homepage and articles, enhancing the site and app with strong 20-second clips.

You will work closely with multiple departments across the newsroom, reacting to breaking news, covering live events, feeding into liveblogs, and collaborating with video producers to extract strong visuals for online articles and longform video packages.

Key Responsibilities
1. Fast-Paced Video Editing & Creativity: Efficiently cut, edit, and optimise 20-second video clips using Adobe Premiere Pro for digital articles and onsite placement. Use creative flair, including graphics, montages, and highlights, to make clips visually arresting and highly clickable. Deliver high-quality visual assets rapidly to keep pace with the breaking news cycle.
2. Sourcing & Researching News: Constantly monitor news wires, agency feeds, and competitor platforms to ensure The Telegraph never misses strong video content. Use editorial judgment to identify powerful visuals and flag critical content to senior and breaking editors. Pitch sourced footage to other desks to help commission fresh editorial pieces.
3. Newsroom Collaboration: Act as a vital bridge between the Video Desk and the wider newsroom, working closely with breaking news teams to elevate daily output.
