About the Role
The in-house Counter Fraud team provides a counter fraud service to the London Borough of Havering to combat fraud against the Council and best protect public funds. We are excited to be growing our team and are recruiting a Data Analyst/Intelligence Officer. We are looking for a candidate with high standards and innovative thinking who is eager to take on challenges in the public sector fraud space. You will work closely with Counter Fraud Investigators, proactively identifying tenancy fraud, corporate fraud, and non-benefit related frauds committed against the Council. You will assist in preparing fraud cases for criminal prosecution, civil action, and/or disciplinary procedures as required. Experience in data analytic tools is desirable, and training will be available to develop your career as a Counter Fraud professional.

Experience
Experience in criminal investigations, including interviews under caution, managing material obtained, and preparing material for disciplinary hearings or criminal proceedings in accordance with relevant legislation. Experience of Housing Fraud and using Open Source Intelligence is preferred.

About You
You should be a team player who shows initiative, drive, and enthusiasm for the role. The successful candidate will have some knowledge of the Criminal Procedure’s and Investigations Act 1996 and the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, as well as a good working knowledge of the Housing Act 1985, Human Rights Act 2000, and Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.

No specific qualifications are required, but relevant experience and knowledge in the field will be advantageous.
