About the Role
Hostile state powers, cyber threats, terrorism, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, global conflicts, fake news and disinformation are some of the critical issues affecting the world today. A graphic design role at the centre of Defence Intelligence offers a unique opportunity to significantly impact the quality of intelligence assessments produced for Ministers and senior officials within Defence and across Government.

As a Graphic Designer, you will work collaboratively within the intelligence community, taking an active lead in designing and creating high-quality visuals that distil complex national security issues into clear, engaging visual solutions. Your work will directly support decision-making at the highest levels of government and enhance the engagement and impact of Defence Intelligence assessments throughout Her Majesty's Government.

You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong brand for Defence Intelligence, continually innovating to improve the visual impact of intelligence reports through infographics and visualisations.

This role provides excellent opportunities to develop your graphic design skills and deepen your understanding of how intelligence informs national security decision-making.

Defence Intelligence (DI) is a diverse and dynamic environment where civilians and military personnel work together to solve problems, create understanding, and provide perspective on complex Defence threats and challenges. DI values diversity and inclusion, offering flexible working arrangements such as flexi-time, job share, and compressed hours.

The Graphic Designer will:
- Design impactful visual assets for print, digital, interactive products, and presentations across Defence Intelligence's assessment production.
- Collaborate closely with intelligence analysts to understand requirements and deliver creative visual solutions.
- Work with geospatial analysts to produce joint graphic and geospatial intelligence products.
- Manage projects from initial brief through to final execution, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Present work within Defence Intelligence and across government departments.
- Collaborate with UK and Five Eyes visual/creative partners.
- Stay current with industry design trends and integrate innovative techniques.

There are opportunities for professional development including conferences, events, and training. You will undertake regular functional training to meet Defence Intelligence visualisation and production standards and security requirements. Those without an intelligence background will be expected to complete the Defence Intelligence Induction Course and Defence Intelligence Analysis Modules.

All DI roles are subject to fair and open competition.
