About the Role
The Deputy General Manager is a key member of the venue management team, reporting directly to the General Manager. This role holds responsibility for the Customer Experience Team and Stage Door team, ensuring a seamless and exceptional customer experience for both internal and external customers. You will assist the General Manager in leading the venue to meet and exceed commercial and operational targets, delivering improvement projects on time and within budget. You will deputise for the General Manager during absences and work collaboratively with Heads of Department and central teams to improve venue profitability and uphold ATG’s high standards of customer service.
Key responsibilities include leading by example to empower the venue team, providing Duty Management cover, ensuring an inclusive and accessible experience for diverse audiences, and driving innovative customer service training. You will act as an ambassador for the company, supporting brand consistency and contributing to social media strategies to engage patrons.
Financially, you will analyse reports, track retail strategies, maximise revenue streams, manage budgets and overheads, and ensure positive stock and cash management in line with ATG policies.
In terms of building and risk management, you will plan and implement maintenance programmes, manage building improvement projects with support from central teams, and lead health and safety initiatives including first aid and incident reporting.
Relationship management is vital, as you will engage with all departments to deliver the company’s vision and values, build constructive relationships with central services and external stakeholders, and maintain positive connections with all internal and external customers.
Experience
- Experience in a management capacity such as team leader, project manager, or head of department
- Proven ability to meet ambitious commercial objectives within agreed timescales
- Experience managing performance and developing teams to achieve goals

Qualifications
- Personal license holder or willingness to undertake training and assessment to obtain one (ATG will arrange this)
- Relevant management qualifications or training (desirable)
- Health and Safety qualifications and/or experience (desirable)
- Genuine interest in the live entertainment industry is required; experience in the industry is desirable but not essential. Transferable skills from other sectors are welcomed.
