About the Role
The Honours and Awards team within Public Bodies, Appointments and Honours (PBAH) leads the administration of Honours nominations across Arts & Media, Sport, Economy, Community & Voluntary Service, Public Service, and the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS). The Honours system operates two rounds per year: New Year and Birthday. The team manages each element of the process according to a strict cycle, working closely with the Cabinet Office, independent committees, and senior Civil Servants.
We are seeking an enthusiastic self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, with excellent collaboration skills and strong attention to detail. The successful candidate will assist in managing the Honours process and support the department’s goal of achieving greater diversity in the twice-yearly Honours list. This role offers an excellent overview of DCMS policy areas and the opportunity to work with senior colleagues.
Key responsibilities include assisting the Honours Secretary with the bi-annual honours selection process, utilising case management systems to log nominations, drafting clear and impactful nomination summaries, managing queries from stakeholders and the public, acting as the main contact for honours coordinators, generating diversity statistics, collaborating on Royal Garden Party guest lists, and contributing to the development of internal processes and systems including AI tools.
Experience
Proven ability to prioritise a busy workload effectively and manage competing demands to deliver high-quality outcomes. Experience working collaboratively in a team and building relationships with diverse stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail. Experience using IT systems to improve processes.

Qualifications
There are no formal qualification requirements for this role, but strong digital skills and experience using office suites such as Microsoft 365 and databases are desirable. Experience in customer-facing roles is also advantageous.
